Honoring the Past, Igniting the Future:
100 Years of Omega Impact
On April 7, 1926, a group of Omega men came together to establish a graduate chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in Savannah, Georgia. That chapter became known as Mu Phi Chapter.
For 100 years, Mu Phi Chapter has stood as a pillar of leadership, service, education, civic engagement, and brotherhood. The Centennial Celebration honors the chapter’s historic foundation while looking ahead to the next generation of Omega impact.

Our History
Mu Phi Chapter was chartered on April 7, 1926, in Savannah, Georgia. The founding brothers were among Savannah’s outstanding citizens and contributed greatly to the economic, cultural, and educational growth of the community. Founding Officers: - Brother N.A. Holmes, Chapter Basileus - Brother F.B. Hardwick, Keeper of Records and Seal - Brother H.R. Moore, Keeper of Finance - Brother Sol C. Johnson, Chapter Editor - Brother E.W. Rakestraw, Chapter Chaplain - Brother C.H. Porter, Keeper of Peace For a century, Mu Phi Chapter has served as a positive and viable force in Savannah’s educational and economic development. Through the leadership and service of its members, the chapter has made an enduring impact in education, business, medicine, religion, law enforcement, and civic engagement. Mu Phi Chapter, in partnership with Savannah Uplift & Education Foundation, Inc., continues to support philanthropic efforts including scholarships for deserving graduating seniors from coastal area high schools, charitable support, and community-centered projects that help humanity. The legacy of Mu Phi Chapter can be seen throughout Savannah through brothers whose names are carried by schools, buildings, and institutions that continue serving the community.
